Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
